In Brevard County, TRIAD is a partnership between many different organizations
tasked with identifying and developing programs to address the needs and concerns of
senior citizens. Issues such as personal safety, health concerns, transportation needs,
and other issues will become important topics as our senior population of 108,000 nearly
doubles over the next ten years.
TRIAD on the community level is implemented by a S.A.L.T. Council (Seniors and Law
Enforcement Together), which may include seniors, law enforcement, service organizations,
civic clubs, clergy, media, health care professionals, and business community members. The
S.A.L.T. Council determines the needs of the communitys senior population.
What TRIAD Does for Seniors
Education: It sponsors seminars and workshops on crime prevention, health care, and other
important concerns of senior citizens.
Outreach: Through programs designed to help our homebound seniors, it helps to reduce
fear and increase peace of mind.
Forges Links: It provides a forum to discuss the concerns of seniors, identify
problems, and develop and implement community-wide solutions.
What Can Result from TRIAD
Seniors benefit from regular contact with service providers and gain knowledge of
available services.
Law enforcement gains a better understanding of seniors' fears and concerns, enabling
law enforcement to develop programs to meet those needs.
Service organizations benefit from improved distribution of services, cooperation with
other providers, and a better understanding of the challenges facing law enforcement.
